On December 10th and 11th from 10-2pm, Green Bay Trout Unlimited ( GBTU ) teamed up with Cabela’s Green Bay to hold our first and second fly tying events of the winter season.

Saturday was much busier than Sunday because of the Packer / Seattle home game that was not anticipated when scheduling.  The good news is that is was a later game and we did have a few young folks stop by for the second time.

Santa was a big draw at Cabelas and I think they clicked off about 350 pictures alone on Saturday.  The line for Santa pictures winded through the facility almost like you see outside some Big Box stores on Black Friday.

We were tucked back in the store which cut down on traffic but the quality of visitors that stopped by were on a mission and definitely spent a long time tying flies.  Sometimes it is better to get fewer visitors but those that are really interested in the craft and sport.

A huge thanks goes out to Nicole Hanley and Brian Mease for their un-waivering support of our outreach events.  Without their support, we simply could not make it happen.  We would also like to thank their generosity in offering us a free lunch, which includes the famous Bison Sandwich, and employee discount opportunities that we definitely took advantage of as Santa came early for all of us.

Another huge thanks goes out to all of the tyers including Wayne Czypinski, from the Oconto River Trout Unlimited, Dori Goddard, Dave Ostanek, Mike and Alexander Renish.  Brian Mease was the expert tyer of the day.  We have a brief showing from Eric Kennedy who is a great tyer and then an up and coming young tyer ‘Devin’.

Thanks again for everyone and have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!
