Kid’s Fishing Day

We held the 22nd annual Kid’s Fishing Day on July 10th, 2013.

Continuing our tradition with another successful event, the 22nd Annual, with great weather and cooperative bluegills, as 60 children from Brown County Social Services (PALs Program). Everyone present experienced a beautiful evening of enjoying the outdoors and catching fish.

All fishing equipment, snacks, and a meal are provided to the children. A picnic lunch was provided by Festival Foods and the Green Bay Exchange Club of Green Bay.   Trout Unlimited provided the refreshments, fruit and the fishing bait.   And finally, the Brown County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League provided a great facility and made sure there were plenty of fish to catch.

Many bluegill of all sizes were caught, but the surprise catch for 2013 was a “huge” largemouth bass reeled in, with the help of long time member Jack Koivisto, by a very proud 9 year old youngster who will surely remember this day for the rest of his life.

Many organizations and volunteers came together to make this event possible via a nice partnership that has evolved over the years to ensure a smooth running event that everyone walks away from with a sense of satisfaction.

Dedicated Trout Unlimited members who donated an evening of their time to help included: Steve Abts, his daughter Ashley Abts and her friend Cristina Villaloras, Mike Renish, Pat Hill, Larry Kriese, Adrian Meseberg, Dennis Gusik, Jack Koivisto, Bill Holton, Paul Kruse, and Lee Meyers.
