April 4, 2019 Program

According to the organization’s website, the Door County Land Trust was formed in 1986 after

“some members of the Door County Environmental Council were concerned with growing development and the lack of land protection options for county landowners. They sent two representatives to Washington D.C. for the very first meeting of regional land trusts from across the country. At this national Land Trust Rally, the representatives were introduced to the concept of land trusts and learned how to establish a local land trust in Door County.”

The mission of the organization is to “Protect Door County’s exceptional lands and waters forever.” They accomplish their mission in three primary ways…

  • Purchasing properties
  • Accepting land donations
  • Conservation easement agreements

On Thursday, April 4th Door County Land Trust Executive Director, Tom Clay, will share with us how they accomplish their mission (read about Tom’s HERE). At Green Bay Trout Unlimited we are guided by a similar mission. This will be a great opportunity to learn from Tom and see how our groups could be partners moving forward.
