GBTU Donates Youth Waders and Boots to WITU

At the February Wisconsin TU (WITU) meeting in Oshkosh Central TU member and WITU education chair, Bob Haase, rose to ask those in attendance if anyone would be able to donate youth waders and boots; new or used, for use in the WITU Annual Youth Camp. The camp was started only a few years ago and has been a big success. GBTU has sponsored several youth in the camp.

Almost by coincidence, only a week or so later, GBTU member Bob Juidici sent our chapter an email. He was curious if our chapter would be interested in a donation of youth waders and boots !

Of course we accepted Bob J’s generous donation which included 4 pairs of waders (Frogg Toggs – Size S, 2 pair of Redington – Sizes 14-16 and Cabela’s Neoprene – Size 3) and 3 pairs of boots (2 pair of Sims – US Size 7 and 5 and Redington – US Size 8).

After spending a bit of time debating if there was anyway we could directly use them, we remembered Bob H’s comments earlier in the month. We reached out to Bob H and came up with a plan to get the waders and boots into a position where they can be used to positively affect Wisconsin future trout fishermen.

On Saturday, June 1st GBTU State Council Representative Melis Arik took the youth gear with her to the WITU meeting in Viroqua, WI. At the state meeting Melis delivered the donation to Central TU member, and former WITU President, Linn Beck. They are now ready to be used at this year’s state youth camp as needed.

A big thanks to Bob Juidici and his family for their donation. A special thanks to Bob Haase, Melis Arik and Linn Beck for bringing the donation full circle.

Thank you for all you do for the coldwater resources of NE Wisconsin !!
