June 1 – Take-a-Kid-Fishing Day

The following is a summary of the day from GBTU BOD member, and Education Chair, Dave Ostanek:

Green Bay Trout Unlimited has been involved with the Outagamie County Conservation Club’s Take a Kid Fishing Day for the last 7 years.  It is always a great time and the Club puts on a super event for so many kids.  This year was no different.  On June 1st, we were able to be there again to represent GBTU and share a little bit about our mission and work and celebrate conservation and being outdoors.  Despite some rain, over 200 kids showed up to fish for various species and win prizes for their catch.  For our part, we had a booth set up where we taught fly tying and fly casting.  While the rain interrupted a lot of the casting, several kids stopped by to learn to tie a fly in which they were able to take home with them.  Green Bay TU was represented by John Kuiken and Dave Ostanek.

Thank you Dave and John for volunteering on behalf of GBTU.

Thank you Outagamie County Conservation Club (OCC), everyone who helped execute this event, and all the parents and kids who came out. Great job everyone !!
