July 20 – Work Project #3 Summary and Pics
Article written on 2024-08-01 by: Adrian Meseberg
The following work day summary was provided by USFS East Zone Fish Biologist, Jake Carleen:
“All,
Lots of good work was accomplished on the July 20th Trout Unlimited workday on Waupee Creek. We continued downstream on Waupee Creek from the June 15th workday. Another approximately 1500’ of stream was treated with fishability brushing to allow anglers access to existing habitat structures in the creek. Combined with brushing from the June workday and 2023 brushing by the DNR, there is approximately 4500’ of brushed water on Waupee Creek in the Bear Paw Road vicinity. With the angler trail that was improved along the banks during the June and July workday there is a nice chunk of water ready to be fished by anglers.
I want to thank the Trout Unlimited Chapter members for all the help and all they do to support trout on the National Forest and beyond. I also want to thank the Wisconsin DNR for scouting the site, putting in an access trails, and coming to the field day.
I attached a map that highlights the work done during the July workday. Apologies, it isn’t my best work, our computer network is painfully slow at work today. When I return from vacation next week I’ll make something better, but I just wanted to get you something.
I sent an email out to Chip Long from the DNR in regards to surveying Waupee Creek in the vicinity of Bear Paw Road, I’ll let you know when I hear back.“
