Feb 6: 2024-25 Guest Speaker #3

It’s the question every angler wants an answer to: Where can I catch more fish ?

Great news…GBTU and Kyle Kossel have your answer! Kyle is bringing his ten years of NW WI trout habitat improvement experience to our February meeting in a presentation simply titled “Where to Catch Fish in the North.” What more can you ask for 🙂

Kyle’s describes his presentation below:

I will be talking about specific areas that we have done habitat work on and areas that we haven’t. Specifically- South Branch Oconto, KC Creek, North Branch of Pike and a few more. I will give locations and access to these areas so the fellow angler can make an adventure out of the streams up north. I will also give an update on future work and a little on Redd Surveys as well.”

Check out Kyle’s bio below:

Hello, my name is Kyle Kossel, I grew up in Oshkosh, WI, and learned to fish on the Winnebago system for pike and walleye. Throughout the years I’ve fished in different states for a variety of fish species and one species, I really didn’t fish for was trout. It wasn’t till I returned to Wisconsin and got a job with the WDNR as a habitat technician out of the Wild Rose Habitat Station that I fully picked up on trout fishing. It was a different realm of fishing and different work experience from being a wildlife technician out in Illinois and Iowa. I landed in the perfect spot where I get to make habitat not only for trout but also wildlife as well. Being an angler for trout has increased my knowledge on trout stream habitat and it’s helped me become a better manager for the resource. Currently, I work out of the Shawano office as a Habitat Technician working on all our beautiful trout streams in the Northeast Region of the State. I’ve been a Habitat Technician for ten years now and I really enjoy the work I do and the people I work with.

This will be a good one !!

On a side note…we are looking for donations for our silent auction and “Bushel ‘O Booze” raffle for our upcoming Annual Conservation Banquet. Please consider bringing a bottle of booze or silent auction item if you can.
