2023 NE Regional Meeting Summary

On December 2nd, GBTU joined several of our Northeast Regional TU brothers and sisters to fund the 2023 Northeast Regional coldwater habitat projects.
Four organizations were seeking a combined $46,600. They were the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) out of Lakewood, the WDNR out of Antigo, Trout Unlimited Great Lakes Stream Restoration (TU GLSR), and the United State Forest Service (USFS). Thanks to the efforts of TU, all funding was committed !
Below are the requests, and each chapter’s pledge…
WDNR Lakewood (Jonathan Pyatskowit / Shawn Sullivan) – $14,950 ($14,000 for crew and $950 for temperature monitor)
- GBTU – $6000 (crew)
- Marinette TU – $2950
- Oconto TU – $2500 (plus additional $2500 WI State TU Friends matching grant)
- Antigo TU – $1000
WDNR Antigo (Tayler Curran / Dave Seibel) – $21,000 (entire amount to go towards a two-person habitat improvement crew)
- Antigo TU – $6000 (plus additional $2500 WI State TU Friends matching grant)
- GBTU – $3000 (plus additional $2500 WI State TU Friends matching grant)
- Marinette TU – $4000
- Wisconsin River Valley TU – $2500
- Wild Rivers TU – $500
TU GLSR (Chris Collier) – $5000-$10,000 (entire amount to go towards a habitat improvement crew)
- Wild Rivers TU $2500 (plus additional $2500 WI State TU Friends matching grant)
- Marinette TU – $3000
- GBTU – $2000
USFS (Jake Carleen) – $650 (entire amount to go towards a generator for survey boat)
- GBTU – $650
Total Donations Sought – $46,600 (everything was covered)
- GBTU – $11,650 (plus a $2,500 Friends Grant)
- Antigo TU – $7,000 (plus a $2,500 Friends Grant)
- Marintte TU – $9,950
- Wild Rivers TU – $3,000 (plus a $2,500 Friends Grant)
- Oconto River TU – $2,500 (plus a $2,500 Friends Grant)
- Wisconsin River Valley TU – $2,500
